We had our final Read Across America Week field trip to Peter's Pense Catholic Library on Friday! Mrs. Brandewie's 7th grade and Mr. Bensman's 8th grade classes had a chance to learn about growing in your faith and resources at Peter's Pense that they can use to help learn about continuing their faith after before and after Confirmation, sainthood, and more! They also got to browse and learn more about how to get a library card. Thank you Peter's Pense again for welcoming our students and we are looking forward to our Jeans and Sweatpants Day tomorrow - $1 to wear jeans or sweatpants and all proceeds benefit Peter's Pense!

Today concluded Read Across America Week - Go Wild for Reading at Holy Angels School! It's more important now than ever to foster a love of reading in children and adults. We want to thank the following school teachers and staff members as well as others in the community for their help making this week a success for our students.
Mrs. Kayla Huston and Mrs. Jennifer Hoersten for putting together the decorating contest - everyone's doors and bulletin boards turned out AWESOME.
Mrs. Kris Schwarzman for making special person lunches a success and being patient and flexible with our many guests in the building for lunches throughout the week.
Mrs. Carrie O'Leary for helping to get prizes and track information for Get Caught Reading and our AR point competition as well as working with Mrs. Denise Stauffer to get the Ignatius Press book fair here at the school.
Mr. Weston Bensman for getting student council to help collect books in the morning for the book swap, especially 8th grader Sophie Sollman.
Mrs. Michelle Voress for being a huge help to student council each morning at the book swap table.
Mrs. Kylie Moeller for coordinating convenient times for Pause, Prowl, and Pounce that worked for everyone's schedule - several students reported they wish they could have 10 minutes of silent reading time every school day!
Mrs. Julie Linson, Mrs. Kelly Gagnet, and Mrs. Melissa Blenman for working with us to put together great programming for our field trip visits to Peter's Pense Religious Library and for the volunteers at Peter's Pense who helped read stories and educate our students about the importance of the library.
Congratulations goes out to all of our various winners this week:
Mrs. Paulette Gradwell and her 3rd grade for winning the door decorating contest. Mrs. Gradwell received a goody bag with pens, a gift card, and a treat and the 3rd grade class received free Kids Meal coupons for both Applebees and Texas Roadhouse.
8th grader Sophie Sollmann for winning the AR point competition and getting the Kids Kindle Fire Tablet. Sophie, generous as always, ended up already having one and wanted the prize to go to the runner up - which was Oliver Bartow! That was very kind of Sophie and congratulations to Oliver.
Talitha Bezy, Lucia Gradwell, Frankie Rhoades, Sophie Sollmann, and Beck Verhotz for winning the Get Caught Reading drawings - all 5 got to pick out an item to take home from the Ignatius Press book fair table.
Families, please continue to make reading a priority in your home and happy Read Across America Week!

Reminder: 2 Hour Delay at 10:15am on March 10, 2025

Holy Angels families, today is the last day to order from our 2025 Ignatius Book Fair at https://www.ignatiusbookfairs.com/ and receive FREE shipping on your order to the school. But don't worry, you can continue to order books all year through our online book fair, just not with free shipping. As we finish up Read Across America Week this week, we want to encourage all to continue to foster a love of reading in your home and with your children. Please consider doing a reading challenge in your home, and taking the pledge in your family! Please note, this reading pledge is a personal choice and is not something that needs to be completed and returned to school. Thanks to everyone who helped make Read Across America Week a success at Holy Angels School! We really Went Wild for Reading!

We still have a few spots left in our Kindergarten, Pre-K, and Preschool Screening on Tuesday, April 8th! Be sure to sign up at https://bit.ly/HolyAngelsScreening. Attending screening is a great chance to see if Holy Angels School is the right fit for your child for the 2025-2026 school year and attending screening is not a commitment to attend.

Mrs. Stiver's 6th grade science class is finishing their cell project presentations. They are super creative and some are yummy! All projects will be posted on Google classroom for parents to see.

IMPORTANT TRAFFIC ANNOUNCEMENT: On Wednesday, March 12th, the chiller for the church and school is being replaced and a crane is being brought in to take out the old chiller. Due to the Crain, Main Street will be partially blocked off from the corner of Water Street and Main and to the alley behind the Church and school. The church parking lot will still be accessible, but please prepare for possible traffic delays at dropoff and pickup. Thank you!

Don't forget to check out our Ignatius Press Book Fair this week! Sample books are set up in the school cafeteria and all orders placed online this week receive FREE shipping to school and help Holy Angels earn rewards back that we can use to purchase new books for our school library. Be sure to check out the offerings and place your order this week.

Today, Ash Wednesday, we mark the beginning the penitential season of Lent. Students will attend Mass today in addition to the normal School Mass on Friday, and blessed ashes will be distributed as a symbol of our humility, penance for our sins, and commitment to a fresh start leading up to Easter to live for Christ.

Monday Meditation

We hope you are looking forward to Read Across America Week next week as much as we are! Our theme this year is Go Wild for Reading! Just a few reminders as we move into the week. Students will have several opportunities to earn prizes next week through reading as well as have surprise silent reading time, so make sure your students are bringing a silent reading book with them to school each day next week. We also will be taking school-wide field trips to Peter's Pense Library throughout the week, so make sure your child dresses appropriately for the short walk and for the weather on the day their class is going. We also have special person lunches next week, and signups closed this past Wednesday. Our Ignatius Press Book Fair will have a table set up in the cafeteria and guests are encouraged to browse with their students during lunch next week. All book fair orders are placed online, unlike a traditional book fair. Information has been emailed out previously and a catalog was emailed out and sent home with oldest and only students. Finally, don't forget about our book swap. Students may bring gently used and school/age appropriate books to school that they no longer read or want at home and will be given a pass which they can use Friday afternoon to pick out a "new" book donated by another student. Thank you for encouraging a love of reading in your child and helping us to celebrate literacy at school!
