Have you ever tried a pawpaw? It's a native fruit in Ohio that grows on a tree! Our food science class got to try them today. They are a creamy mix of banana, mango, and pineapple. Pawpaw fruits ripen in September, and Ohio hosts an annual Ohio Pawpaw Festival every September that happens to be this weekend in Nelsonville Ohio.
Things are getting pretty dense in the chemistry room with our great new teacher, Mrs. Jenny Smith. While some lessons sink, this one rose to the top!
Dear LCHS Families,
Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, we will be running on a 1-Hour Assembly Schedule in celebration of Opportunity Day!
Opportunity Day is a wonderful way for our students to learn about different organizations in our community. We will welcome several organizations to campus to share more about what they do and, most importantly, show our students the many ways they can get involved and serve others in our community.
We are excited for our students to learn, connect, and discover new opportunities to make a difference!
🎉 Congratulations to our 2026–2027 United Way Teen Representatives, Senior Eden Westerheide and Junior Lydia Johnston!
Eden and Lydia will join student representatives from high schools across Shelby County for monthly meetings throughout the school year. Along the way, they’ll learn about local United Way agencies, the services they provide, and the impact they make right here in our community.
At the end of the year, the Teen Representatives will put what they’ve learned into action by helping review needs and award grants to organizations serving Shelby County. ❤️
Saturday was a great night for our Junior High and High School Cross Country Teams!

Today we had all three Strength & Conditioning classes participate in a tribute for 9/11. There was sweat, a little bit of suffering, and tons of remembrance. We took on a grueling 30-minute tribute workout designed to honor the heroes and victims of September 11th. Every single athlete left it all on the track:
1 Mile Run - to open and close the workout, symbolizing the endurance and sacrifice of the first responders who rushed toward danger.
9 Burpees - for the 9th month.
11 Push-ups for the 11th day.
20 Air Squats & 1 Minute Wall Sits to honor the year 2001.
We are incredibly proud of the grit, respect, commemoratory each class displayed. We will Never Forget!
