The Importance of Staying Positive

COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the fate of the rest of the 2020 school year. Activities such as spring athletics, prom, graduation, musical, and academics have all been put into the hands of the unknown, which is a very uncomfortable feeling for everyone. With all of the unknown ahead, the administration at Lehman refused to let this ruin the plans for the rest of the school year. They came up with a plan that would allow us to continue learning over a video platform called Zoom. This has been a really weird experience for everyone involved, but I am glad that our school came up with an efficient plan so quickly.

It has been hard to adjust to no face-to-face school, but the online program is going pretty smoothly so far. The teachers have all been working hard to post online assignments onto Google Classroom, and have been continuing to teach their lessons on Zoom, which is something I’m very grateful for. Although I do enjoy having the laid back schedule every day, I can say that I really do miss school, which is something that I’ve never thought I’d say.

I have gotten the pleasure to plan prom over the past few months, and it is very unfortunate to see that there is so much unknown. Things like this are out of our control, and I keep reminding myself to stay positive given the situation. It is what we make of our time, right now, that will make us a stronger community and school. As we all experience these times of need, it is important that we remember the good things in our lives. Good things will happen if we take the time to pray for those around the world affected by this virus.
