Who We Are
Our Students: In joining Lehman Catholic High School, you join a community with a student enrollment of 210. Our school parking lot is very lively during drop-off and pick-up times as students come from the following counties: Auglaize, Champaign, Darke, Miami, Montgomery and Shelby. The majority of our students come from the Sidney, Piqua, and Troy City school districts; we also have students attending the school from fourteen other public districts including Covington, Greenville, Minster, Houston, Dayton and Graham.
Our Learning Environment: At Lehman Catholic, you learn moral decision-making and its practical application in everyday life. We approach teaching and the educational process by developing an understanding of your ability level and learning style. Our learning environment places a premium on communication between you, your parents, your teachers, and the school's administration.
Our Proven Results: Of the 21 Catholic high schools serving the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Lehman Catholic ranked in the top of the high schools on the Assessment of Catholic Religious Education (ACRE). Our sophomores taking the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) lead all Auglaize, Darke, Logan, Miami and Shelby county schools with 91.3% of our current students passing all five sections of the test.
Our Satisfied Customers: During its last self-study report for North Central and Ohio Catholic Schools Accreditation, Lehman surveyed its current school parents. The following were noted as strengths that parents were most satisfied with at the school: Catholic values and Christian atmosphere, teachers and staff, extra-curricular activities and athletics, service, small classes, discipline, family atmosphere and preparation for college.
Our Faculty: The Lehman faculty is comprised of religious, priests, and lay men and women. All are dedicated to your academic, spiritual, moral, emotional, and physical growth and wellness. About 30 percent of the faculty has five years of teaching experience or less. Thirty-five percent of the faculty has been teaching more than 30 years. Sixty-five percent of the faculty have advanced degrees.
Our Facility: The original structure that houses Lehman Catholic High School was constructed in 1954. Five additional classrooms were added in 1965. A second building that houses the football locker room and bus garage was constructed in 1970. An observatory with a 16-inch Newtonian, reflecting telescope was dedicated in 1993. A major addition (52,000+ square feet) including a large gymnasium, updated science labs, media center, facilities for music, and a computer center was built in 1997.
Our Catholic Identity: Lehman Catholic High School is a place of welcome and hospitality where the Holy Spirit is alive. Gospel values are practiced and demonstrated in our interactions with students, parents, and the community. The faculty and staff at Lehman are dedicated to promoting and teaching the tradition of the Roman Catholic Church. We are also committed to embracing the dignity and faith traditions of members of our school community who are not Catholic.
Our Families: Lehman Catholic and its predecessor schools have thrived for more than 110 years because of our family atmosphere.
