Does Lehman offer an athletics program?
Athletics are an important part of the Lehman community. We believe that through athletic competition one has the opportunity to acquire an appreciation of a particular sport, as well as the chance to develop and experience camaraderie, teamwork, discipline, sacrifice, and good physical health, all of which helps make an individual more well-rounded, happier and successful. Among the sports offered are baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, softball and soccer.

What is the dress code for Lehman students?
The dress code, which promotes individual student's training in self-control and self-discipline, is as follows:

  • Navy slacks - male and female

  • Navy shorts - male and female (worn first and fourth quarters only)

  • White/yellow/light blue button-down oxfords - male and female

  • Sweatshirt approved by administration

Details of the dress code are further explained in the student handbook, available upon request.

What health services are available to my child?
Minor first aid may be obtained in the office. Any student who is ill should report to the office. An ill student may leave school with the knowledge and consent of a parent and an administrator. In an emergency, the parent will be contacted. If a student needs to take medication at school, the office must have received a note from the parent or guardian as well as a valid prescription from a licensed physician or other practitioner. No student may be in possession of prescription or non-prescription medication. All medication must be stored in the front office, accompanied with a note.

As a Catholic school, what religious activities are offered?
The Religion Department, working with the students, coordinates the various religious activities. Mass for the school community is held when possible in the St. Elizabeth Seton Chapel. These Masses are said for the intentions of members of the school community. A liturgical calendar is prepared each year by the religion department. A closed retreat has long been accepted as a means of growth in one's relationship between God and one's fellow man. Recognizing this importance, the Lehman administration and Religion Department believe all seniors should make a closed retreat. Days of recollection or retreat can be arranged for other groups of students through their religion teachers at the students' request.

Is help available for those students who cannot afford tuition?
Since Lehman was formed in 1970, members of the community have raised funds to insure that any student desiring to attend the school would be able to do so regardless of the parent's ability to pay the tuition. All scholarships awarded are need-based scholarships. To receive tuition assistance, families must file an application with the School and Student Service for Financial Aid of Princeton, N.J. The application is processed and the school is notified of the amount of tuition assistance the family needs, based upon a number of statistical criteria. The school then notifies the family of the amount of tuition assistance it will receive. More information can be obtained from the school's main office.
